There are a number of co-occurring medical conditions common to autism or in other words there is a root cause why our kids are autistic. The main "quest" on the recovery journey is finding and treating underlying medical issues to improve a child’s health and thereby, their behavior, communication, and socialization.
Illustration: when you feel the pain from mosquito bite, as a treatment you apply some cream to your skin which relieves the pain. This way you delt with effect of the problem. However, to prevent this issue from happening again, you install windows and doors screens to prevent mosquitoes from getting into your house in the first place, i.e. you eliminated / treated the root cause.

The medical conditions causing autistic neuro-development are all kind related to different parts of the patient's body like the brain, guts, spine, etc. For example, some of those conditions are leaky gut syndrome, PANS and PANDAS, wrong skull/spine development, etc.
Autism could result from more than one cause, with different manifestations in different individuals that share common symptoms. Documented causes of autism include genetic mutations and/or deletions, viral infections, and encephalitis following vaccination. Therefore, autism is the result of genetic defects and/or inflammation of the brain. The inflammation could be caused by a defective placenta, immature blood-brain barrier, the immune response of the mother to infection while pregnant, a premature birth, encephalitis in the child after birth, or a toxic environment.
Combining medical treatment with targeted therapy provides the best outcome for kids. However, finding the root causes for autiscial behaviours and and corresponding therapeutic treatments is a challenging task and will take time and efforts.
Next, there is a need to define which medical professionals to consult with and what therapies to engage your child and in what order. We should point out important note, that order or sequence of interventions matters and you should plan and consult accordingly. To illustrate importance of the correct sequence will use this analogy: you need to use the bathroom. Your order of actions is "enter a bathroom", "pull down your pants", "sit on the toilet", and "then do your business". If you switch the order, i.e. "sit on the toilet", "do your business" and THEN "pull down your pants" - the effect and result are not quite the same as in the sequence prior, right? We hope you got the point :)
There are types of healing therapies that are dealing with the aftermath or effect of autism. For example, Speech Pathology, ABA, or Occupational Therapy target "the effects" produced by the medical issues of so-and-so organ of the body.
As the first step in finding underlying medical conditions, we would recommend to find a so-called Functional / MAPS doctor in your area. However, these days with Zoom and the internet, you can consult with doctors anywhere in the world.
